New Resource Historical Texts

Historical Texts comprises three collections: Early English Books Online (EEBO), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and British Library 19th Century Collection (BL). Access is via the My learning / Learning support pages in the portal on and off campus.


Key sources
From the first book printed in English by William Caxton to Newton's Principia Mathematica; various works by Shakespeare; important works from authors such as Voltaire, John Milton, Sir William Blackstone, Captain James Cook; and classics such as A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Mansfield Park and Emma by Jane Austen, The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Languages
Works cover a range of languages from English to Dutch, French, German, Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish and Welsh.

Subject coverage includes English literature, history, geography, philosophy, linguistics, theology, law, music, fine arts, education, mathematics and science.
