Cambridge Books Online


Learning Services has purchased 981 ebook titles for you to search, browse and download. Full text ebook content in PDF format is available from these collections:


  • Economics
  • Film, Media, Mass Communicationcollection and
  • selected titles published between 2006 - 2010 from the Sociology collection.
How to access on and off campus:
Login to the University portal with your computer ID and password
Click on the My learning / Learning support page
In the Search the Library portlet select the Online databases and academic journals link
Scroll down to Cambridge Books Online in the list

From within Cambridge Books Online, choose Humanities and then Film, media, mass communication from the Browse by Subject column on the home page. To view theEconomics and Sociology titles, select Social Sciences from the Browse by Subject column.

Cambridge Journals Digital Archive


We now have access to the JISC Cambridge Journals Digital Archive - a fixed collection of journal archives in three sections. The first two parts of the archive Part 1 STM title list and Part 2 HSS1 title list are available now.
How to access on and off campus:
Login to the University portal with your computer ID and password
Click on the My learning / Learning support page
In the Search the Library portlet select the Online databases and academic journals link
Scroll down and select Cambridge Journals Online in the list.

In Cambridge Journals Online choose the Browse Journals tab and select the By Title option.

When viewing individual titles you can gain access to the digitised archive by selecting Back Volumes from the Journals Menu column. If you search the platform rather than browse you will retrieve full text only where it is available as part of the archive.

Oxford Scholarship Online Ebooks


Learning Services is subscribing to 433 ebook titles in Oxford Scholarship Online. We have full text access to the Business & Management and Economics & Finance subject collections.

How to access on and off campus:
Login to the portal with your computer ID and password
select the My learning / Learning support page
In the Search the Library portlet select the Online databases and academic journals link
Scroll down to Oxford Scholarship Online in the list
From within Oxford Scholarship Online, select the Business & Management or Economics & Finance subject collection from the left-hand menu in order to search, browse and access the titles in each collection.

New Eresources: ACS Legacy Archives and ASCE Research Library


We have 2 new eresources available via the My learning / Learning support page in the portal.

ACS Legacy Archives
This online database provides full-text searching and instant access to all titles, volumes, issues, and articles published by the ACS from 1879 to 1995. Archives articles are delivered in PDF format.

ASCE Research Library
The ASCE Research Library is a comprehensive online tool for locating articles of interest across all disciplines of civil engineering. The Research Library provides you with access to more than 40,000 full-text papers from ASCE Journals and Proceedings.

How to access
To access both resources on campus:
Login to the portal with your computer ID and password
Select the My Learning / Learning support page. 
In the Search the Library portlet, select the Online databases and academic journals link.
Scroll down to the resource in the list on the next page.
Select the name of the resource to be transferred to the search screen.

Logging in to eresources

The University uses single sign-on to authenticate our students and staff and provide access to our eresources on and off campus. This has to be done via the University of Greenwich portal. We do not use individual Athens usernames and passwords.
  • Login to the portal with your computer ID and password.
  • Select the My Learning link.
  • In the Search the Library portlet, select the Online databases and academic journals link.
  • On the next page the eresources are arranged alphabetically by title.
  • Scroll down to the resource in the list on the next page.
  • Select the name of the resource to be transferred there.

Web of Knowledge enhancements

Get the most out of Web of Knowledge by exploring these features:

ResearcherID
  • Highlight the impact of an author’s work with citation counts for papers indexed in Web of Science.
  • Use EndNoteWeb to manage a personal publication list for ResearcherID.
  • Explore the world of research with an interactive map that can help locate researchers by country and topic, or use the new country tag cloud.
Endnote Online

  • EndNoteWeb is available free as part of Web of Knowledge and allows you to create bibliographies and share them with others.
  • Reasearchers can use it to manage publication lists for ResearcherID.
Endnote Web can be accessed via Web of Knowledge from the Library Databases page in the University of Greenwich portal.

Welcome

Welcome to the start of your course if you are studying with us for the first time. If you are a returning student welcome back for another year. Over the coming weeks I will be posting about services and facilities available to you in the libraries.

You can access print and electronic books, journals, audiovisual materials, a wide range of e-resources, computers, printing, photocopying, scanning and much more.

If you want to keep up to date with new posts on this blog you can do so by RSS news feed or email newsletter. Just click on the appropriate 'subscribe' options in the right-hand menu and follow the instructions.
